Israeli cellist Inbal Segev will celebrate her record completion of J.S. Bach’s monumental Cello Suites with an album wrap party and concert at Lincoln Center on Feb. 25.
Segev will perform Bach's Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor, plus selections from Suite No. 1 in G Major, Suite No. 5 in C minor, and Suite No. 6 in D Major. During the show, she will also share with the audience her interpretive decisions and her own process of absorbing and performing these great masterworks.
Along with the concert, a sneak peek of the Nick Davis Productions’ documentary of Segev’s journey recording Bach's monumental work will be shown as well, along with a Q & A with producer Nick Davis.
Segev’s cello playing has as been described as “characterized by a strong and warm tone . . . delivered with impressive fluency and style,” by The Strad and “first class,” “richly inspired,” and “very moving indeed,” by Gramophone. She is equally committed to new repertoire for the cello and known masterworks and brings interpretations that are both unreservedly natural and insightful to the vast range of solo and chamber music that she performs.
The recording of Segev Bach’s Cello Suites took six months and will be available for commercial release in fall 2015. Her recording sessions took place at the Academy of Arts and Letters in New York, with Grammy-winning producer Da-Hong Seetoo.
The concert and wrap party will take place at The Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse | Samuel B. & David Rose Building at Lincoln Center on Feb 25 at 7 p.m. Complimentary wine & post-concert reception included.
