Even with all the changes to the studio and the cast, word has it that ABC's new View just isn't the TV show ratings bonanza that it once was, and its network producers are planning on cancelling it if things don't turn around. According to that lest gossip news updates, Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell's constant feuding has loyal viewers, who aren't interested in watching the co-hosts verbally duke it out each morning, turning the channel. People are talking about newcomer, Nicole Wallace's whimsical revelation that she may have PTSD as a result of working with Sarah Palin back in 2008, however. Perhaps all the series really needs is to become more politcal to remain relevant.
The ladies of The View just aren't getting along according to recent reports, and the constant battling is said to be affecting the show's viewership.
A behind the scenes source with production claimed in the January 19, issue of OK! Magazine that nothing they've tried has done anything to routinely bolster the ratings:
"They've changed the set three times this season, have brought in guest hosts, are contemplating bringing back former panelists and are doing anything and everything possible to try and find a rhythm for these women, and it just isn't working."
According to the informant, the real reason The View can't get their ratings to turn around is because the true fans of the show are tired of watching Rosie O'Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg butt heads day after day:
"It's been a war of ego's...they've both said some really nasty things.
"ABC is ready to cut its losses and move on to something else.
"The execs are even contemplating adding an extra hour to Good Morning America -- just like NBC has done with Today."
Truth be told -- the most noteworthy thing that happened on the show since Whoopi and Rosie first got into it on the air, occurred when Goldberg wasn't even on the show.
During a recent episode centering on Sarah Palin's attack on Barack Obama and PETA, Nicole Wallace admitted to Rosie O that she did sort of suffer from PTSD symptoms every time she sees the former Alaska Governor (via Mediaite):
"A little bit...I start to sweat out."
To be fair -- the onetime communications director for John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign has often poked fun at her former co-worker.
She told Wendy Williams back in October, that she pretty much lost all faith in Palin long before long before that fated election day:
"There was a moment shortly after I met her that I realized that she realized that she was in over her head."
If a feud with Sarah Palin can't energize The View's rapidly aging audience than nothing will.
