Take a classic Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park) film, tack on producer J.J.Abrams (Star Trek, Star Wars) and throw in a few big named stars like James Marsden (X-Men), Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs), Ed Harris (Pollock) and Thandie Newton (Crash) and you have one hell of an HBO show. The upcoming series, Westworld, is a remake of the 1973 movie and is bound to be one of the hottest TV show’s of 2015.
Westworld is shaping up to be one of most anticipated new series of 2015. The New show is a remake of the 1973 film. IMDB plot description for the original film, reads:
“A robot malfunction creates havoc and terror for unsuspecting vacationers at a futuristic, adult-themed amusement park.”
Entertainment Weekly, is offering a description of Anthony Hopkins character, Dr Robert Ford, reporting:
“the brilliant, taciturn and complicated Creative Director, Chief Programmer and Chairman of the Board of Westworld; Ford has an uncompromising creative vision for the park--and unorthodox methods of achieving it.”
James Marsden also stars Teddy Flood, a new gun slinger in town.
Michael Lombardo, HBO’s programming president released a statement about the upcoming J.J. Abrams adaptation of the 1973 Michael Crichton movie (via The Hollywood Reporter):
"This is built as a series and, in terms of storytelling, I think the rules are definitely being broken. The promise of the show, in terms of where it's going, is exciting to actors, and they want to be a part of this."
