Azealia Banks recently went on Hot 97 where she stuck it to white rappers like Iggy Azalea and Macklemore. The comments re-sparked the feud between Banks and Azalea. However, Macklemore has given a much more humble response.
Azealia Banks recently broke down on Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97 when discussing white rappers:
“In this country, whenever it comes to our things -- like black issues, or black politics, or black music, or whatever -- there’s always this undercurrent of kind of like a ‘F**k you,’. There’s always a, ‘F**k y’all n***as; y’all don’t really own sh*t, y’all don’t have sh*t.’...That Macklemore album wasn’t better than the Drake record. That Iggy Azalea sh*t is not better than any f**king black girl that’s rapping today.”

Banks’ comments re-sparked the widely publicized rift between herself and Iggy Azalea, and lead to the “Fancy” rapper calling Banks a bigot.
Now Macklemore has opened up about the issue on Hot 97, stating (via Spin):
"I'm like, 'How do I get involved on a level where I'm not co-opting the movement, but also realizing the platform that I have and the reach that I have and doing it in an authentic, genuine way?. We have to get past that awkward stage of the race conversation. s a white person, we have to listen."
Macklemore went on address Banks’ comments directly and humbly:
"You need to know your place in the culture. Are you contributing, or are you taking? Are you using it for your own advantage, or are you contributing? This is not my culture to begin with. As much as I have honed my craft… I do believe that I need to know my place."
