New York Yankees Pitcher CC Sabathia Retiring: Freaks Out in Newark Airport, Chronic Knee Injury to Blame?

CC Sabathia is one of the highest paid pitchers in Major League Baseball. Unfortunately, CC has been battling a chronic knee injury, which has led many to predict his retirement. But, according to the latest reports, it looks like Sabathia will be in pitching shape by the 2015 season. Sadly, though, it looks like his time away from Yankee Stadium has negatively altered his mindset. According to recent reports, the cops were called on the star, after he freaked out in Newark International Airport.

Sabathia has some of the most respectable accomplishments any pitcher can posess. When he signed with the Yankees to the 2009 season, he became the highest-paid pitcher in MLB history.

During this time, Sabathia never had more losses than wins in a season. However, that all changed in 2014, when he was rushed to the hospital after a bone spurred knee injury.

At one point, it was even thought he would need a micro fracture surgical procedure, and those can be career ending. However, according to NJ.com, CC plans on returning unscathed in 2015:

"Sabathia [told sources] he has been told by doctors that his knee will never be 100 percent for the rest of his playing career. [He said] 'I'll have time for it to work this time, instead of trying to rush back...I have five months. Hopefully I'll be able to have a normal offseason.'"

In recent news, CC showed a side of himself that fans are not used to seeing. Reported on by TMZ Sports, Sabathia's recent airport breakdown was out of character:

"Nobody likes missing their flight ... including MLB star CC Sabathia ... who was so upset after missing his plane to Jamaica, cops were called to calm down the big fella...Sabathia arrived to the Newark International Airport...only to be told they were too late to board the flight. As one source put it, "CC started freaking out" on airline staff -- and that's when someone called the NY Port Authority for help. Cops helped CC cool off and [he] was able to book a later flight...No arrests. No citations. And eventually, the gang made it to Jamaica to start their vacation.."
