From Selena Gomez's hot bikini role in Spring Breakers to the hotter controversy surrounding her recent bindi-clad performances of "Come and Get It" on the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, Dancing with the Stars Week 5 and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Justin Bieber's ex-girlfriend is proving she's not so innocent after all.
And while Gomez's devoted fans appear to love "Come and Get It"--from her forthcoming album Stars Dance, out this June--some religious leaders have been less than impressed by the 20-year-old's live renditions as of late.
In short, they hate her outfit--especially that bindi.
Rajan Zed, leader of the Universal Society of Hinduism, released the following statement earlier this week:
"The bindi on the forehead is an ancient tradition in Hinduism and has religious significance. It is also sometimes referred to as the third eye and the flame, and it is an auspicious religious and spiritual symbol. It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed. Selena should apologize and then she should get acquainted with the basics of world religions."
Despite all the commotion, the former Disney queen has yet to make an official statement, much less an apology, of her own.
Over on Gomez's Twitter feed, however, it appears there's no hot water at all. In fact, everything seems business as usual.
Undeterred by threats of insensitivity, Gomez wore her red bindi yet again yesterday morning for a performance of "Come and Get It" on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
And as if to say I-do-what-I-want-whenevs-I-want-to, Selena Gomez's bindi came back out one more time on Tuesday night for ABC's Dancing with the Stars.
What do you think about Selena and her bindi? Is she being rude? Intentionally?
Maybe someone should ask Brad Pitt...
For what it's worth, Britney Spears, at least, thinks its amazing.
