Helena Bonham Carter (Fight Club, Cinderella) and Tim Burton (Batman, Nightmare Before Christmas) have ended their 13-year relationship. The Les Mis actress and the Sweeny Todd Director lived together for years in a domestic partnership, but were never officially married. They shared two children together, a 7-year-old daughter Nell and an 11-year-old son Billy. In other news, Helena Bonham Carter has been cast in HBO’s upcoming series, Codes of Conduct.
Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter first met on the set of Burton's Planet of the Apes remake. Since then they have partnered up on several other films, including The Corpse Bride, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland, and Dark Shadows.
A rep for both Carter and Burton released a statement confirming their breakup, reading (via E! News):
"Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children. We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time."
Helena Bonham Carter is returning to TV in the upcoming HBO series, Codes of Conduct. The show, written by Steve McQueen (12 Years A Slave), also stars Devon Terrell, Paul Dano, and Rebecca Hall.
