Top Five Rosario Dawson Adopts Daughter After Grandmother’s Death and Kisses Jenny Slate in New Year Video [NEWS]

Everyone from Matt Lauer to Chris Rock has heard the news that Kids starlet Rosario Dawson has recently adopted a 12-year-old daughter the way she was once adopted by her father, but don't except her to talk about. Rosario told the Today show host that she didn't talk about family matter, but years earlier the Instagram feet model admitted that she wanted to adopt a child before her grandmother and mother passed. Though Dawson is reluctant to comment on it, one can pretty safely assume that the death of her matriarch shortly before she started shooting Top Five with Chris Rock had some sort of effect on the timing of Rosario's decision. Whatever the case, don't let the fact that she is now a mother ruin her make out video with Obvious Child Jenny Slate. The New York Times put the shoot together to celebrate the quintessential New Year's Eve kiss, so it is kind of un-American if you don't at least watch it 30 of 40 times.

If you haven't seen Rosario Dawson swapping spit and a bit of tongue with Jenny Slate in a celebration of the New Year's and the power of kissing, than you are welcome.

A.O. Scott of the New York Times, insisted that the video and eight other short films that also feature celebrities sharing smooches has some sort of artistic if not scientific merit (via Huffington Post):

"What is undeniable is that movies -- Hollywood movies especially, but far from exclusively -- made kissing more visible.

"They established a glamorous iconography and an elegant choreography for an experience that, in real life, is frequently sloppy, clumsy and less than perfectly graceful."

Whatever they were pretending to celebrate in the video, the real-life Dawson has more than enough to be excited about as 2015 quickly approaches.

Not only is her movie with Chris Rock, Top Five, garnering rave reviews from the critics, Dawson just recently adopted a 12-year-old daughter.

The intensely private Dawson snapped at Matt Lauer when he tried to bring up the new addition to Rosario's family, but one can gather from her interview back in 20008 with Latina Magazine, that the recent passing of her grandmother served some sort of catalyst for her to finalize if not initiate the adoption process (via E! News):

"That idea has stayed in the back of my head, but lately, I've been thinking about it more.

"My mother and grandmother are extraordinary women, and they're getting older.

"It struck me recently that one day I might be sitting around with my children, going, 'Your grandma was an amazing woman; I really wish you could've known her.'

"That makes me sad 'cause it would be a waste to not have these people know each other.

"Whatever time I have, I want it."

Let's hope that Rosario's grandmother did get to meet the little girl that Dawson brought into her family, before it was too late.
