Recently, the Mega Millions lottery gave away $1 million to one lucky winner as the official website reports:
“December 9, 2014 - Mark Paul of Chicopee, Mass., is the winner of a $1 million Mega Millions prize after his Quic Pic ticket matched the first five numbers drawn in the multi-state game’s drawing held Friday, December 5, 2014.
“Paul claimed his $1 million prize (less taxes) on Tuesday, December 9, at Massachusetts Lottery headquarters in Braintree. He intends to invest his winnings.”
However, winning isn’t everything. You also have to make sure you hold on to your ticket, as one unfortunate soul might soon learn:
“AUSTIN, TEXAS - A prizewinning Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million will soon expire. The Texas Lottery Commission is asking Mega Millions players to check tickets purchased for the June 17 drawing. The deadline to claim the second-tier prize is Sunday, Dec. 14.
“The winning numbers for the drawing were 10-14-24-47-60-3. The ticket was purchased at Sellers Brothers Drive In Grocery located at 220 Preston Street in Pasadena, Texas.
“‘We encourage our players to take another look at their tickets, check the numbers again and if your numbers match, sign the back of the ticket and contact us,’ said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery.”
