Recently Sony Pictures was hacked due to the production of the new film, The Interview, in which James Franco and Seth Rogen play reporters tasked with killing North Korea's supreme leader, Kim Jong-Un. Now new information about the inner workings of Sony is being released each day. One interesting tid-bit is that Sony almost let Disney / Marvel reboot the Spider-Man franchise, and after that considered letting the Web-Slinger (Andrew Garfield) appear in Captain America 3: Civil War. This info comes after Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Agent Coulson, Clark Gregg, brought up the idea of having Spidey show up on the ABC series.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sony was considering letting Disney reboot the Spider-Man franchise, after the first trilogy. The recent Sony hack has reportedly leaked emails from Sony C.E.O. Kaz Hirai and Disney C.E.O. Robert Iger, that revealed that the companies were very close to making a joint deal involving the production of the reboot.
The hack also revealed separate emails that showed the two companies were also in talks to have Spider-Man appear in Captain America 3: Civil War, but that deal is believed to have fell through.
Recently, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star, Clark Gregg mentioned Spidey as part of dream list of guest stars, telling Comicbook.com:
“I have so many fantasies that involve so many crossovers, not only with the DC Universe, but a galaxy far far away! Magneto! Spidey! I got to work with Spidey in animated form. I have my hopes. I hope the lawyers get together like the World Security Council and suddenly peace on Earth will reign.”
