As Classicalite reviewed earlier this year, the duets album Cheek to Cheek from the meat-dressing ARTPOP diva Lady Gaga and forever-cool Tony Bennett came as a breath of fresh air. If you don't believe us — watch them here on The Colbert Report.
With Colbert's unremitting wit and humor the pair shared a very intimate conversation, talking everywhere from how Lady Gaga and Tony met to the "actual" (as Gaga wants us to note) Great American Songbook. All this prefaced a most resounding performance of "Cheek to Cheek."
Gaga cites that she first remembers hearing Tony Bennett in her kitchen when her father and her would cook "spaghetti and meatballs." She's quite proud, now, that she's sitting next to him "on the news."
Perhaps some on-air promo for the holidays, both majors Interscope and Columia are thinking and hoping that the Christmas season will inspire new sales in the last quarter. Internationally, though, the duo are doing just fine, with performances in China and Russia to adoring audiences.
Yes, Colbert, maybe Gaga would've taken Tony's San Francisco heart and turned it into a hat but she does everything to him but rip it out. Check them out below talking jazz and "spaghetti and meatballs" for their new album.
