‘Big Bang Theory’ News: Kaley Cuoco NOT Original Cast Penny; Jim Parsons Replaces Will Farrell in ‘Elf’ Sequel? [VIDEO UPDATE]

Can anyone really imagine a Big Bang Theory without its hottest millionaire, Kaley Cuoco, in the now iconic role of Penny. Well, thanks to the magic of YouTube, you don't have to imagine it. According to the latest gossip news updates, Amanda Walsh was all set to play to part -- then called Katie -- but the target audiences just didn't relate to Walsh's brash buxom blonde. Thankfully, Ryan Sweeting's topless Instagram bikini model wife was cast in the role, the name was changed, a new pilot was shot and the rest is history. The jury is still out, however, on Jim Parsons replacing Weill Ferrell in the animated Xmas special sequel of the role he made famous in Elf. Looks, like we'll have to wait until Christmas to find out if one Buddy really is just as good as the next.

God only knows what Big Bang Theory executive producer, Chuck Lorre, was thinking when he orringinally passed on Kaley Cuoco for the part of Penny when looking for just the right eye-candy to add to his pilot's cast, but he most certainly did.

According to Entertainment Tonight, when Lorre made his first Big Bang pilot, not only was Kaley not in it, her character Penny wasn't 100 percent fully formed either:

"In an unaired pilot for the CBS comedy, Amanda Walsh played a hyper-sexual, a bit more raunchy version of Penny.

"Also, the character was named Katie.

"The test audience did not like Amanda Walsh's version of Penny, feeling overprotective of the guys. "

Speaking of replacing someone in an iconic role -- from the looks of NBC's latest Christmas promo poster theJim Parsons' animated interpretation of Buddy the Elf is finally finished.

At least Will Ferrell need not get his feelings hurt for being singled out for replacement in the new much more musical sequel.

The folks in the know at E! News report, that with the exception of comedic genius Ed Asner the entire cast has virtually been replaced:

"Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas is based on the hit film and the Broadway musical Elf, and features the voices of Mark Hamill as Walter (James Caan in the film) and Kate Micucci as Jovie (Zooey Deschanel's part).

"And Santa Claus fans are in for a treat as Ed Asner is set to reprise his role!"

Okay...James Caan kind of makes a lot of sense, but you know it's not like Zooey Deschanel can't sing.
