Andrew McCutchen proposed to his then girlfriend, Maria Hanslovan, on The Ellen Show in December of last year. By doing so, he proved that his passion for the sport of baseball is surpassed only by his love for her. They recently tied the knot, and it should prove to be a great ending to a good year. The only hiccup being that Andrew did have an issue with an injury to his ribs earlier in the year, which caused his game to suffer somewhat.
McCutchen has never been on a disabled list, and based on his stats provided by Bleacher Report, the Pittsburgh Pirates would be devastated without him:
"On the year, he is hitting .307 with 20 home runs, 70 RBI, 69 walks and 17 stolen bases. He also boasts a .942 on-base plus slugging percentage and is a crucial piece of the team's defense from center field."
His body may ache, but his heart and emotions are jumping for joy. Love is in the air for Maria and Andrew regardless of stats or injuries.
McCutchen is sure to be grateful this Thanksgiving that he has not been benched or heartbroken. Before Christmas of last year, Andrew displayed this passion to the world on Ellen. The two just got married, and TMZ covered the details:
"The two were married in a ceremony on November 22nd...they reportedly picked the date because of Andrew's jersey number ... 22. When he proposed, Andrew told Maria...'I did this to show you that...If I could tell the whole world how much I love you, I would do that.' Obviously, she said yes and this weekend...they finally swapped 'I dos.' And to prove it's official ... Maria already changed her last name on her Twitter account to McCutchen..."
