Gillian Lynne CBE and Michael Frayn will be honored by receiving Special Awards at Olivier Awards 2013 with MasterCard. Both will be awarded for their outstanding contribution to theatre and the arts.
Gillian Lynne CBE, is one of the most acclaimed directors and choreographers. Lynne started her ballet journey as a dancer with Sadler's Wells Ballet. Later on she earned international reputation for her stage work. Lynne choreographed and staged over 50 West End, Broadway productions. One of her latest productions starring Betty Buckley titled 'Dear World' opened just this year at the Charring Cross.
Michael Frayn is a multy-Olivier Award winning playwright and novelist.
President of the Society of London Theatre, Mark Rubinstain expressed, "I am delighted that the Society of London Theatre has recognised the prolific work of Michael and Gillian who, in very different ways, have both had a vital and lasting influence on our theatre and dance stages. It is only fitting that these two ambassadors of British Theatre be recognized with the Special Award at this year's ceremony."
The Olivier Awards with MasterCard which belong to one of the most prestigious events in the United Kingdom will be announced on Tuesday, March 26. The nominations will be broadcasted live through BBC Radio 2.
The ceremony is planned for Sunday, April 28, at Royal Opera House, and will be hosted by Sheridan Smith alongside Hugh Bonneville. The evening will be broadcasted on BBC Radio 2 from 6:30pm.
