Country Star Billy Gilman Comes Out of The Closet In YouTube Video After Ty Herndon Gay Announcement

It is unexpected for a country music artist to come out as gay, and unimaginable that two would come out in the same day. However, that is exactly what happened on Thursday, November 20, 2014. First Ty Herndon revealed to the world that he was gay, during an interview with People. Hours later former child star Billy Gilman came out via a YouTube video.

Whether or not you like it, the tides are changing. Kacey Musgraves gay friendly single, “Follow Your Arrow,” won the CMA Song of the Year Award, Dolly Parton publicly defended gay rights on behalf of decent Christian’s everywhere, and same sex marriage has been legalized in South Carolina.

Maybe, there really is a homosexual plot to turn everyone gay, or perhaps people are just deciding to be a little less d*ckish for the holidays, but either way, things are changing. Early on Thursday, Ty Herndon announced that he was gay, telling People:

"During an Anthony Robbins seminar, I realized I had an incredible story that could possibly help someone's son or daughter or grandchild's life not be as difficult as mine has been. Maybe they wouldn't have to go through as much pain and suffering. It's time to tell my truth… I'm an out, proud and happy gay man."

Later in the day, Billy Gilman also came out, announcing his sexuality in a You Tube video, saying (transcribed via Taste of Country):

“It’s difficult for me to make this video, not because I’m ashamed of being a gay male artist, or a gay artist or a gay person. “but it’s pretty silly to know that I’m ashamed of doing this knowing that I’m in a genre and an industry that’s ashamed of me for being me.”
