If you are of the elite who could not get their fill on the first one, thus the Pitch Perfect sensation continues for another installment. Pitch Perfect 2 hits theaters May 15 of next year, but has released a most anticipated new trailer already for the event.
Watch the trailer and imagine the premiere in a theater — imagine the screams to the screen when the first notes of a harmonized "Cups (You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone)" flood the room. Might have sounded reminiscent of a Shea Stadium back in 1966:
With the same star-studded line-up featuring Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, Ester Dean, Hana Mae Lee, John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks, newcomers will include Hailee Steinfeld and Katey Sagal.
On its release, Pitch Perfect grossed some $65 million domestically in theaters and was heralded by a much larger viewership than anticipated. A directorial debut from Jason Moore (Dawson's Creek, One Tree Hill) the film became a huge "teen comedy" hit for Universal, similar to Mean Girls back in 2004.
The plot of the sequel, not surprisingly, has been kept under wraps pretty well, but as Indiewire notes — spoiler alert — the Bellas have temporarily broken up. While the old crew settles into college life, the saga focuses on the "new adult" concept — a similar concept that was spearheaded by shows like Lena Dunham's Girls).
Whatever your fancy, the film should hit the ground running next year and is getting its viewership revved up for some new hits worthy of radio space in the future.
