Tonight the hit CW Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals is all new, but that is not all. We also get a new episode of the Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) based web series, The Awakening. The Target sponsored show, focus on a story that got axed from Season 1, because of Buzolic’s work on the failed Supernatural spin-off, Bloodlines.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of The Originals, titled “Chasing the Devil's Tail,” reads:
“Klaus searches for an antidote when he discovers Elijah has been afflicted by Esther's magic; Hayley teams up with Klaus, Marcel, Cami and Josh in an attempt to take down Vincent; Vincent and Kaleb reconsider their strategies; Kaleb lets Davina in on some secrets from his past and brings her to a place he frequented in 1914.”
The CW and Target have teamed up to bring us an Originals web series, The Awakening. The story, written by Carina MacKenzie, focuses on the Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic). Recently, MacKenzie spoke to Just Jared Jr about how The Awakening came to be:
“The first episode I wrote of The Originals back in season one was originally going to tell this flashback story about how Kol’s time in New Orleans had set in motion all these little things that were having an influence on our characters in the present. We ended up having to do something different with that episode --for a lot of reasons, one of which was that it was airing the same night that Nathaniel Buzolic‘s episode of Supernatural was airing, and there was some concern from the network about that -- but I had already written this flashback story. I kind of thought oh well, it’s just gonna be this thing on the cutting room floor. But when the opportunity came up to do this web series with Target, we knew we wanted to do a flashback story, so I repurposed that old story.”

Be sure to tune into the all new episode of The Originals, tonight at 8:00 p.m. eastern on The CW.
