It would seem that the tabloids are insisting once again the day-time talk show host Ellen DeGeneres' marriage to Porsha de Rossi is near divorce once again. According to the latest gossip news updates, now that Portia has found steady work, on Scandal, and consequently her self-confidence, she's not going to take any of her allegedly abusive wife's nonsense ever again. Word has it that DeGeneres wouldn't mind so much except she's convinced herself that a happy public marriage is the key to her new lifestyle brand, ED, becoming a billion dollar business. Folks are saying that Ellen is desperate to convince Portia that her overall net worth would be much better off in the long run if she doesn't split just yet.
For years now it seems, that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been actively battling the Hollywood rumors that their marriage is on its last leg.
A source insisted in OK! Magazine's November 17, issue that now that Portia was strong and sober once again, she was ready to get out of her toxic relationship:
"They haven't been happy for years...Now that she's sober, Portia realizes how unhappy she was, and she resents Ellen.
"Now that Portia is standing on her own two feet, Ellen feels like she doesn't need her anymore."
Perhaps, that is why Ellen is reportedly trying to convince Portia that sticking around a few more years would be absolutely game changing for her financial--if not her emotional--wellbeing.
An insider, claiming to have the behind-the-scenes scoop on Ellen's business model, revealed that the comedienne is telling de Rossi that her new lifestyle, ED, will be unbelievably successful as long as they stay together (via Celeb Dirty Laundry):
"Ellen is desperate to keep talk of divorce under wraps--because she thinks that hundreds of millions of dollars are riding on it.
"She wants to be the new domestic diva.
"The last thing she wants is something to go wrong.
"She's convinced this will be a billion-dollar business, like Martha Stewart's!"
Public perception of Ellen's marriage is a big part of the image that DeGeneres is ultimately trying to project and brand, which is why one informant told Star Magazine that she is so desperate to protect it:
"Ellen want's to believe that everything is fine [with her marriage].
"It's why she constantly talks about their marriage on the show."
It's pretty hard to imagine that Ellen DeGeneres really believes she has to be married in order to sell pillow cases and hand towels at Target.
