Classicalite darling Valentina Lisitsa is more than just our most commendable Ukrainian pianist--it's with great sadness that she was not recognized plugging away at her own "Pearls Before Breakfast" back in London.
Regardless, the highly acclaimed YouTube star just released her brand new LP, simply titled Études, internationally on November 10.
Sifting through heavyweight piano studies from the likes of Frédéric Chopin and Robert Schumann, Lisitsa finds a comfortable niche in the spaces of any of the works she performs here. I mean, just listen to her perform outside the tube...and right on the homepage of her website.
Dropping via Decca, there are more than just 21 reasons to love Val's newest disc for Universal's classical imprint (not to mention she has a Second Life profile, eats McDonalds, rides motorcycles and always makes time for fans, to name but a few).
With liner notes written by our own editor-in-chief Logan K. Young, the 24 studies of Chopin pair nicely with Schumann's more "symphonic" ones. And you'll want to listen, too, to the five supplementary variations of the latter's Op. 13. Pretty much all of the 42 tracks on this disc come highly recommended.
For now, here's one of favorite Val moments below, so you don't miss out on her next time she's in your town.
