Emmy Award winner Kelsey Grammer (Frasier, Cheers, The Simpsons, Tony Award nominee for La Cage aux Folles on Broadway) and Laura Michelle Kelly (Olivier Award for Mary Poppins on the West End, Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway) will join already-announced Matthew Morrison of Glee in the Broadway premiere of Finding Neverland.
The new musical, produced by Harvey Weinstein, directed by Diane Paulus and based on the 2004 film about the inspiration for J.M. Barrie's creation of Peter Pan, will begin previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on March 15, 2015, with opening night one month later.
Kelly will reprise the role of Sylvia Llewelyn Davies from the tryout production at the American Repertory Theater. Grammer will play theatrical producer Charles Frohman, with Morrison as J.M. Barrie.
Grammer's Broadway work aside from La Cage aux Folles has until now been restricted to plays by an obscure English scribbler named William Shakespeare, specifically Othello and two different productions of Macbeth. In 1982 he played Cassio in an Othello cast led by James Earl Jones, Christopher Plummer and Dianne Wiest. In 2000 he played the title role in Macbeth opposite Diane Venora.
Finding Neverland has a book by James Graham and music and lyrics by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy. Choreography is by Mia Michaels, scenic design by Scott Pask.
