Excited as we were to hear about Big Ears Festival Artists-in-Residence, and Classicalite favorite, Kronos Quartet making their way to Knoxville in 2015, we are overjoyed with the initial line up announcement. From March 27 to 29 contemporary classical composers and loads of indie darlings will descend upon Nashville to bring one of the more expertly curated festivals of the season circut run.
On the bill collaborating with Kronos alone is Laurie Anderson performing "Landfall," inspired by her Hurricane Sandy experience, Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, The National guitarist/composer and another Classicalite favorite Bryce Dessner, and throat singer Tanya Tagaq whop we were happy to announce received the 2014 Polaris Music Prize.
Composer Terry Riley, who worked on Cameron Carpenter's If You Could Read My Mind, is celebrating his 80th birthday by performing at Big Ears.
Jazz makers and takers come in the form of The Bad Plus, and celebrated guitarist and composer Bill Frisell.
Weekend passes have gone on sale today at a special price of $153.50 plus fees. Once those are scooped up, tickets are $178.50 plus fees. The last stage of ticket pricing, in case you miss out is $199.50 plus fees.
Knoxville's Joy of Music School and Community School of the Arts will reap a portion of the ticket sales.
