Tonight you can celebrate Veterans Day without even leaving the house. HBO is hosting an all star tribute event to veterans, the 'Concert for Valor.; The concert event includes performances from Rihanna, Zac Brown, Eminem, Foo Fighter’s Dave Grohl, and The Black Keys just to name a few. Some of the special, non musical guest include Into The Wood’s Meryl Streep, Annie’s Jamie Foxx, Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, with Tom Hanks, Oprah Winfrey and more. The official description for tonight’s event, reads:
“A salute to America's veterans, telecast from the National Mall in Washington, D.C., features performances by Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood, the Black Keys, Eminem, Jennifer Hudson, Dave Grohl, Rihanna, Metallica, Jessie J and Zac Brown Band. Also included are tributes by Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, Steven Spielberg and Reese Witherspoon; and among the onstage hosts are Jack Black, Jamie Foxx, George Lopez, Bryan Cranston, Bob Woodruff and John Oliver.”
Tom Hanks is helping to produce the event. HBO’s CEO Richard Plepler, released a statement to the press about the event:
“We are honored to play a small role to help raise awareness and support for our service men and women. Their immeasurable sacrifice deserves our nation’s gratitude. This event will not only celebrate their service, but help remind Americans of the many challenges they face on and off the battlefield. We are delighted to join with Starbucks in our mutual effort to pay tribute to our veterans and those currently serving in the military.”
The Concert for Valor airs tonight at 7:00 p.m. eastern on HBO.
