Rumors of a 50 Shades of Grey movie curse have intensified in recent weeks. It looks like Charlie Hunnam may have dodged a bullet when he exited the film and abandoned the title role. New reports are claiming that Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele's scenes lacked chemistry and Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan have been forced to do reshoots.
When E.L. James first announced that Dakota Johnson would be portraying Anastasia Steele from her popular e-book, fans on social media reacted with shock and disbelief.
While the reasons for their anger varied, many believed that Dakota Johnson wasn't capable of coming off sensual enough.
And now it seems that those fears may have been warranted, as a number of reshoots are underway. According to Us Weekly, it could have something to do with Dakota not being sexy enough:
"The movie's stars, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, were recently spotted back on set for reshoots, which sources say were necessitated by a distinct lack of chemistry between them. Producers thought the existing footage didn't feel 'passionate,' one insider reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly...Another source adds, 'Dakota isn't coming off sexy enough. [Anastasia Steele] needs to be naive, not a dishrag.'"
It seems that Dakota has taken the majority of the blame for having to do reshoots. Jamie, on the other hand, has been praised for his performance in the upcoming film.
Though Dornan has also been reshooting scenes, E! Online had nothing but praise for the dreamy actor:
"The hunky Hollywood actor returned as Christian Grey today when he resurfaced on the Vancouver set of Fifty Shades of Grey to do some reshoots for the highly anticipated film, which will hit theaters in February, and, of course, he looked absolutely drool-worthy in a very memorable outfit."
What do you think about the latest rumors? Is there any chance that the reshoots are all Dakota Johnson's fault? Do you think fans were right to question her casting decision? If so, who do you think would have made a better Anastasia Steele?
