This month two stars of E! Channel's Total Divas made some pretty heavy allegations on the radio. Cameron, formerly of the Funkadactyls, and twin sensation Nikki Bella have both claimed recently that there is an unwritten rule that cast members of Total Divas can't hold the Divas Title. The rumor is that Vince McMahon won't allow it because of the discrepancy of the timelines. However, Stephanie McMahon flatly denied the rumors and in fact said the show and WWE shows would benefit from a cast member holding the championship.
Recently Cameron spoke with Chris Jericho on his podcast about a supposed policy which doesn't allow cast members to win the Divas Championship (via Wrestling Inc.):
"The whole thing we have been fighting is being on the show [means] not being able to have a chance at the title."
Nikki Bella also implied that there was some kind of a hang-up on a recent radio show.

When asked about the policy, however, Stephanie McMahon absolutely denied it (via Cage Side Seats):
"Absolutely not. I honestly don't even know how that rumor got started... There is no policy. I think it would be awesome to have one of the Total Divas as our champion. I think it would drive interest in the storyline. I would never say never."
Since the story is merely a rumor, and there is no evidence to support this claim, perhaps it would be fair to give WWE the benefit of the doubt. After all, it is a reality show. The whole point is to offer a behind the scenes look at the lives and careers of the Divas (unless the whole show is an elaborate vehicle designed to keep smarks from having a grip on the line between reality and storylines.)
