Percy Harvin Trade: Ex Seahawks Receiver Comments on Incident with Golden Tate, Behavior Problems after Going to Jets

Wide receiver Percy Harvin reportedly had an easy time of it when he reported to his new team, the New York Jets. Despite rumors of Harvin's work ethic and his ability to play well with others, the ex-Seahawks asset says he was welcomed by Jets coach Rex Ryan judgment-free. And while Harvin didn't really elaborate on why he was traded, he did acknowledge that he had an incident with former teammate Golden Tate. However, Ryan doesn't think that Harvin's alleged behavior problems are going to be an issue.

According to Harvin, he was expecting to have to discuss his past with his new team, but instead he appears to have been offered a clean slate (via Detroit Free Press):

"I've talked to a lot of management, and they've told me to come in and be myself. I'm familiar with a lot of faces here. A lot of the guys know me, have a feel for me already. I'm having a blast in the days I've been here, so I don't think it's going to be a problem."

In fact, there is some evidence to suggest that Harvin's attitude and any alleged incidents between teammates were not at the center of the Seahawk's willingness to part with him. It may have had more to do with simply catering to quarterback Wilson's strengths, as well as making ample room for Wilson's imminent contract negotiations (via CBS Sports):

"Harvin was not clicking with Wilson - who is due for a massive contract extension at season's end (where much of the financial savings from Harvin's departure will be devoted) - and Wilson's quarterback rating was significantly higher with Harvin off the field than on it."

While the Jets aren't necessarily a life raft, maybe he will fit in a little bit better in New York.
