Joyce DiDonato Performs Titles from 'Stella di Napoli' at Brooklyn's Gowanus Ballroom

Opera darling Joyce DiDonato brought classic opera to a surprisingly up-tempo showroom — or in this case, ballroom. Yes, DiDonato's performance at the Gowanus Ballroom in Brooklyn, where she sang off her new album Stella di Napoli, was one to be remembered.

On Friday, Oct. 3, it was rumored that Joyce would be passing through the Brooklyn venue late-night, hosting a rare and unparalleled recital of opera arias in a cool but unusual place.

The singer is a fixture on major opera stages in concert venues like Carnegie Hall and the Barbican Center. She seems, per The Wall Street Journal, to thrive in the grittier and more "divey" settings.

Not that we would argue with any of it. Luckily, some were able to capture the inspiring performance, including none other than WQXR, which presented a live video stream of the mezzo-soprano at the Gowanus.

Cool, clear and seemingly a "rock star" of the genre, check out the video below:
