Patriots QB Tom Brady has been the favorite target of critics since New England's rough start this year, but actress Maria Menounos said the haters should be ashamed. The near-Boston native has been reportedly embarrassed by all the negative comments going Brady's way, especially after defender Chris Jones blocked a field goal attempt against the Jets in the final seconds ensured their 27-25 victory.
Thursday Night Football may have its share of detractors, but the most recent mid-week outing was a nail-biter that surely had fans at the edge of their seats.
In a repeat scenario of last year's match-up between the Jets and the Patriots, defensive tackle Chris Jones blocked a crucial field goal, only this year he didn't get penalized for it. Patriots coach Bill Bellichick reportedly approved of the symmetry (via NFL.com):
"After what happened last year, I thought it was fitting that he made that play."
Perhaps it's also fitting that life-long Boston fan Maria Menounos gave the city of Boston a dressing down for forsaking the beloved duo of Brady and Belly (via TMZ):
"Menounos was in NY when we asked the Patriots super-fan how she felt about Tom now that the veteran QB seems to be hitting his stride ... and that's when Maria called out Beantown... Maria isn't afraid to take her home town to task on Tom's behalf and even manages to save a little love for his hoodie-clad head coach."
Maria also mentioned how great it was to have Gronk back. She's also no great fan of murder suspect Aaron Hernandez. Her only comment about the former Pats tight end was "that's a shame".
And to all those fair-weather Bostonians, watch out for Maria Menounos- she's one tough cookie.
