LeBron is clearly telling the truth about the recent blooper he and his teammate Matthew Dellanova committed last week, but that didn't stop people from showing incessant looping video of what appeared to be LeBron in a Cavs jersey setting a pick on his own teammate. James gave the press even more to play with when he denied the claim so strongly at the press conference that followed he seemed to actually give the accusation more weight. People are looking at James even more closely now that he has quit the Miami Heat, but this is just an example of James losing the game of cat and mouse with the media.
If you watch the video of James and Delly's blown coverage, even if you know what you're looking at, it still looks like he's setting a pick on his own teammate. Yet LeBron still feels the need to justify himself (via USA Today):
"For non-basketball people... our coverage is for me to show and for Delly [Dellavedova] to go under me and we just didn't get the call right at the time. Delly was supposed to slide under me and we kind of ran into each other.
When he was with Miami, LeBron was a well-oiled quote machine. He seemed mature and poised with every answer he gave to the press. Was he just kept on a short leash by Pat Riley and coach Eric Spoelstra? Or maybe he just lost his sense of humor when he moved back to grey old Cleveland (via SB Nation):
"So, for non-basketball people, they like to critique everything that I do. It's stupid."
Delly and the Cavs better get used to getting thrown under the bus by King James, or they better get a better media coach.
