Grant Gustin only made it two episodes as The Flash/Barry Allen before DC Comics and The WB recast the role….sort of. Ezra Miller has been cast the Scarlet Speedster in the upcoming and unrelated 2018 Flash film, and the Justice League franchise. Meanwhile, if wondering what will become of The Flash, TV series, don’t worry. It is safe and secure on the small screen, where Zack Snyder and David S. Goyer can’t get there franchise killing hands on it. The CW series recently paid a tiny bit of fan service to Rentheads, having Jessie L. Martin’s character quote some lyrics from Rent’s “I’ll Cover You.”
DC Comics has announced it’s plans for a shared cinematic universe, which includes two Justice League films (2017 and 2019), and a solo Flash film, in 2018. Ezra Miller, known for his role in Perks of Being a Wallflower, has been cast as Barry Allen / The Flash.
The role of Barry Allen / The Flash is currently being played on the small screen by Glee’s Grant Gustin in the CW’s Arrow spin off.
Fans of the TV series, as well the Broadway musical Rent, caught a small easter egg last night, when Jesse L. Martin’s character made reference to the Rent song “I’ll Cover You.”
Arrow star, Colton Haynes was quick to point this out via Twitter, writing:
“Holy crap! Jesse says ‘I'll Cover You’ in the episode!!! I'm not only a sidekick...but I'm also a psychic. (drops the mic) I'm done. #TheFlash”
You can check out Haynes in tonight’s all new episode of Arrow, at 8:00 p.m. on The CW.
