Tom Brady, who has been catching a lot of crap lately for his advancing age and Space Jam-esque loss of talent, turned things around against a decent Buffalo Bills team. The Bills, who seem as excited to have a new owner as their blue-shod Terry Pegula is to own them, couldn't quite match up to the Pats' Rob Gronkowski. Brady and Gronk beat up on Buffalo to the tune of 37-22, while a story on New Media sports giant Deadspin asked the question: what would happen if Tom Brady got Ebola?
According to the Boston Globe, tight end Rob Gronkowski presented a challenge to the Bills' defense. His size and speed led to match-up problems against the Buffalo secondary. Connecting with Gronk 9 times for 94 yards.
But it was a true team effort for the Pats' offense on Sunday. Brady connected with ten receivers on the day, including Julian Edelman for 91 yards and Brandon LaFell, who had 97 yards and two touchdowns on just 4 receptions (via NFL.com):
Of course all that offensive goodness wouldn't have happened if Tom Brady had been sidelined with Ebola.
A humorous piece on Deadspin posed the question: what would happen if someone in the NFL contracted Ebola? The irreverent sports website quipped that not even 9/11 could stop the NFL, so why should Ebola?
The deadly virus is apparently only contagious if someone is showing symptoms, but the question is still intriguing.
If there were some kind of outbreak in the NFL, the game of commerce versus public health and safety might reach epic heights.
Let's just hope it doesn't come to that and the worst thing NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has to worry about is whether he gets to keep his job.
