Shelly Sterling V. Stiviano 911 Call: 'African Black' Comment Viral after TMZ Plays Conversation Between Donald Sterling's Wife and Dispatch

Shelly Sterling's concerned 911 call last week went viral after TMZ released a recording of the conversation on Friday. Donald Sterling's wife put her foot in her mouth when she called the cops to report that Don's ex-squeeze V. Stiviano had broken into their house. Shelly described the intruder to the dispatch officer as an "African Black". The male Sterling later claimed that Stiviano was invited there.

First things first- the gaffe makes a good headline and the sound bite is newsworthy, but the story is a little bit out of context. It sounded more like she got tongue-tied when trying to say "African American" or "Black", only the resultant mixing of the two coming out of an old white lady's mouth is kind of horrific.

Reportedly, Shelly Sterling received a call from her gardener, who doesn't speak English, and learned that Stiviano was at her home, prompting Shelly to call the police. It would be interesting to know what other kinds of conversations happen between Sterling and her gardener in Spanish.

That house is freaky.

Although Shelly reportedly claimed that Stiviano was tormenting her husband, Donald said that he was her guest. Way to embarrass your wife for the umpteenth time, jerk (via LA Times):

"It turned out that Stiviano -- the woman whose recordings of Sterling's racist remarks led to his downfall -- had been invited to the home by Donald Sterling, police said. Officers took a report and left shortly after arriving."

So while Shelly was trying to protect her husband yet again from looking like a complete idiot, he is having brunch with the lady who got him kicked out of the NBA, and with whom the Sterlings are involved in a lawsuit?

What a schmuck. No wonder Shelly had to get out of town (via TMZ):

"By the way, Shelly was in France while this was all going down, but repeatedly tells the operator ... V. is 'tormenting' Donald... In the bedroom? We doubt it, but you gotta hear Shelly explain why police have to race to the house ... WITHOUT calling Donald. It's tricky."
