Adrian Peterson Admits to Smoking Weed While Out on Bail? Marijuana Use a Violation of Bond Release

Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings running back who has been accused of child abuse, now might have to go back to jail for violating the terms of his bond. Peterson had been released on bail awaiting trial when he allegedly admitted to smoking weed recently, which is a big no-no. Marijuana use, or use of any drugs for that matter, is commonly prohibited when someone is awaiting trial.

Peterson, who is expected to plead not guilty to child abuse charges, nevertheless may have to go back to jail in light of a recent report that he admitted to "smoking a little weed" recently (via ESPN):

"In light of this statement, and the fact that it was made during the urinalysis testing process, and the term 'weed' is a common slang term for marijuana, the state argues that the defendant has smoked marijuana while on bond."

Of course, since pot is an illicit substance, it is obviously a no-no if you're already facing criminal charges (via TMZ):

"Now, prosecutors say that is a direct violation of the terms of his bond -- and have asked the court to order he be arrested. "

To further complicate matters, any such ruling has to wait until it is decided just who will preside over the case. Reportedly, the prosecutors want a new judge after the current judge apparently made a few lawyer jokes:

"The judge has yet to rule -- and probably won't until after his recusal hearing. We're told it could be a few days until AP learns his fate."

While Peterson has not spoken to the press, his attorney Rusty Hardin has indicated that Peterson feels strongly that the case against him is erroneous, but Peterson himself will remain silent until the legal process has played out.
