Tonight, Fox’s hit David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel series, Bones is all new. The series killed off John Francis Daley’s Sweets. Now series showrunner, Stephen Nathan is opening up about the possibility of a Season 11 renewal.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode, titled “The Purging of the Pundit,” reads:
“The remains of a right-wing radio host are found in a storm drain, and the investigation reveals some surprising extracurricular activities that narrows the search for suspects. Meanwhile, Agent Aubrey tries to get Booth to trust him, and Brennan worries about her husband's state of mind.”
Recently, Bones showrunner Stephen Nathan spoke to TV Line about the possibility of reaching Season 11, as found in the Ask Ausiello collum:
“I think it might take a little bit of time because there are [actor] renegotiations involved...If everybody keeps watching as much as they have been--and on the most difficult night on television--then I am sure we will be back. It’s something that we’re anticipating and hope for. It doesn’t seem as if the show is slowing down.”
Nathan also spoke with TV Guide, about the decision to kill of Sweets in the first episode. TV Guide of Season 10:
“Going into Season 10, you really want to kick everything up a notch. Our intention, initially, was not the demise of Sweets. However, John's career as a writer and a director was really taking off, and he came to us and asked if he could leave to go and direct a film, which he's directing now. We were incredibly sad to lose him, which was really going to be the case because to have him come and go and come and go during the season would have been very disruptive for storytelling. When we realized that, we thought, ‘Wait a minute, what is the best way to use this unfortunate incident for us as an asset for the show?’ The cliff-hanger from last season was leading up to a relatively complex story for Bones, and this seemed to be a very shocking and emotional way to deal with the story so it wasn't just a conspiracy story.”
