With reports that Glee star NeNe Leakes is now making $1.5 million a year for her participation in Bravo Season 7 of Real Housewives of Atlanta, it is kind of difficult to understand why she would ever comment on Twitter about quitting like she has in the past. According to the latest gossip news updates, Porsha Williams has been fired as a result of her reunion recap brawl with Kenya Moore last year. Given all the attention domestic violence has been getting in the past few months, the TV show's decision not to have the radio personality back in 2014, makes a lot of sense to Wendy Williams, but costar Kandi Burruss doesn't really think it's fair when you think about how popular the fist fight has been for the reality series.
It seems that NeNe Leakes' constant complaining about her Real Housewives of Atlanta coworkers has paid off in million dollar dividends.
A secret source speaking with Radar Online claimed that NeNe Leakes is getting paid $1.5 million for Season 7, thanks to some serious contract negotiating:
"Without NeNe, RHOA wouldn't be the ratings blockbuster that it continues to be. While some of the other shows including RHONJ and RHONY have endured ratings slumps, Atlanta has never had to endure that.
"NeNe made it known she would need a significant raise to do the upcoming season, and Bravo had no choice but to agree to it.
"NeNe is a very smart businesswoman. She knew she could demand it and get it."
Maybe that is the real reason behind the producers of Real Housewives letting Porsha Williams go--they needed the cash to pay off NeNe.
Whatever the impetuous for demoting Porsha to part-time/friends status, Kandi Burruss doesn't think that it is fair in light of the numbers they put up as a team last season.
During a discussion on The Tom Joyner Morning Show around the time of the incident, the now newly married Burruss explained that for as well as all the mayhem and violence has gone over, Porsha should probably be rewarded not punished (via Michigan Chronicle):
"I don't think anybody needs to be kicked off the show.
"We had a record-breaking season and I think everyone needs to come back."
Unfortunately for Williams, the powers that be at Bravo clearly don't share her novel "live and let brutally assault" attitude, but she isn't letting the decision get her down.
In her official statement addressing the downgrade in Bravo baller status, Porsha said she was going to be focusing on the future instead of the past (via Daily Mail):
"I will be able to focus my attention on my career as an Entertainment Correspondent, recording my album, building my businesses, and taking baby step towards nurturing my relationship with my new love!"
If she had been this understanding at the reunion...perhaps, Porsha would still have her sweet ass TV show job today.
