Johnny Manziel Left Behind as Brian Hoyer Continues to Excite: Browns Beat Titans 29-28

It's still a statistical inevitability that Johnny Manziel will eventually start a Browns game. But veteran Brian Hoyer has held the Dawg Pound at bay for four straight games. Even though they're just 2-2, it feels like Manziel Mania is getting left behind in favor of Cleveland's winningest quarterback in recent memory. One thing Hoyer has done that fans were expecting Manziel to do is to excite crowds with his thrilling comebacks and close games. Sunday was no exception as the Browns just barely beat the Titans 29-28.

After falling behind by as much as 25 points, the Browns mounted an incredible comeback, which culminated in a late touchdown pass to Travis Benjamin to give Cleveland their only lead of the game.

This kind of play has been common for the Browns this season (via ESPN):

"'I did tell them after the game they got to stop doing it,' first-year Cleveland coach Mike Pettine said. 'I have an EKG scheduled for tomorrow because my heart can't take many more of these.'"

Brian Hoyer may not come right out and say it, but winning in such dramatic fashion may end up being what keeps him on the field (via CBS Sports):

''It's just good to win. I said when we broke it down, 'Let's just win one by two touchdowns one week and not give everybody a heart attack.' It's great to always win, but to win coming back and know that you battled your butt off is a great feeling.''

In a business where you are often only remembered for the last thing you did, Hoyer is managing to hold on to his spot perhaps longer than many people imagined he would.
