James Spader Talks ‘Blacklist’ TV vs Marvel’s ‘Avengers 2: Age of Ultron’ Film [NBC] [DISNEY]

The Blacklist is all new tonight on NBC. Recently, James Spader spoke up about TV winning the battle over film these days. What does that mean for his upcoming role in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron? Probably, nothing considering the fact that it is a Marvel movie, and Marvel is box office gold, but still we should probably see what he has to say.

The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of The Blacklist, titled “Dr. James Covington,” reads:

“The team tries to track down a sinister doctor and uncover his black-market operation. Meanwhile, Red tries to take advantage of a new opportunity in Indonesia, leaving him in a vulnerable position.”

James Spader has taken over the small screen. Recently Spader spoke to The Observer about TV’s new found superiority over film:

"There is no legacy in film any more. I am not so sure that even classic films really live on now--and that means ultimately that maybe film is really an entertainment, or a provocation, just for a specific time."

Spader remembers that time fondly, adding:

"I grew up on a boarding school campus and there was a guy there who ran a film club that was available to students on campus and to faculty children of a certain age. Every other week he would rent a print of a film and screen it. So I was able to watch a broad spectrum of films from different eras, from an English film like Hobson's Choice to a western like Hud. It was fantastic and completely informed my film-watching experience."

However, Spader isn’t giving up on film. You will soon be able to see him in the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.

Be sure to check out the all new episode of The Blacklist tonight at 10:00 p.m. on NBC.
