‘Doctor Who’ David Tennant & ‘Breaking Bad’ Anna Gunn New Fox Miniseries Gracepoint: Showrunner Talks American ‘Broadchurch’ [SPOILERS]

Last night Fox kicked off it’s ten part miniseries Gracepoint. The new series stars Doctor Who’s David Tennant and Breaking Bad’s Anna Gunn. Gracepoint is a remake of the British miniseries, Broadchurch, also starring David Tennant. Recently, the series showrunner has opened up about just how closely the show will follow it’s predecessor.

The show will follow the plot of Broadchurch closely for a the first few episode before having to verr, as showrunner Dan Futterman (Capote), recently explained (via Washington Post):

“The first order of business was don’t [mess] up what works [about Broadchurch], because it was fantastic. All of you probably saw Broadchurch. You are connoisseurs of good TV, and it was great TV. So we didn’t want to break what was working. But we also wanted to raise this show in a different country. We have 10 episodes as opposed to eight, and so we start to veer from the storyline. . . . [W]e introduced new characters, new potential suspects.”

Gracepoint will return next Thursday, Oct 9, on Fox. The official plot preview for the second episode, reads:

“In the wake of Danny's murder, the grieving Solano family have some questions to answer when detectives uncover a surprising piece of evidence in daughter Chloe's room, and discover that father Mark hasn't been entirely truthful. Meanwhile, Beth opens up to the town minister, an old friend.”
