The so-called "NXT Five" has fans of independent wrestling salivating, waiting breathless for the next generation to make their way into a WWE ring. Young superstars like Sami Zayn Adrian Neville are poised to move up from the Florida-based developmental promotion any day now, and new signings Kevin Steen, Prince Devitt and Kenta (who has apparently been re-branded as Hideo Itami) are expected not to last too long at NXT before they get called up. The question is: how quickly should fans expect Kenta's arrival at the main roster?
The NXT Five, along with Konnor and Viktor of the Ascension, are likely WWE's next generation of Superstars, and the newcomers are getting started in a hurry (via Bleacher Report):
"The NXT landscape is morphing in a hurry, with Itami already making an impact, Finn Balor (Prince Devitt) working his first set of TV tapings and Steen set to do the same."
The tie that binds many of these "young" wrestlers share (besides the fact that none of them is from America) is that they are all veterans of the independent wrestling scene, demonstrating a level of commitment that some fans feel has been missing until recently (via Cage Side Seats):
"That's the commonality here. And that's why we have these 14-year journeys. It's a really long time and you're not going to make it through that journey if you don't have that passion to drive you."
Fan favorites like CM Punk and Daniel Bryan have paved the way for high-octane performers from Japan, Canada and the UK to come to the wrestling world's largest stage and show us what they can do (and maybe even take some of their moves back #GTS).
It's a good time to be a wrestling fan.
