After former Scandal cast member, Columbus Short drew so much negative attention for his alleged abuse of his wife, it only makes since the TV show's biggest star, Kerry Washington, would publicly stand up to fight domestic violence. Spoilers: leader of Olivia Pope associates is lending her supports be designing a fashionable hand bag. According to the latest gossip news updates, Scot Foley has the most truly scandalous past by far. During a recent taping of Ellen DeGeneres' talk show to promote the Season 4 premiere, Mr. Foley revealed that he was once arrested three times in the same day. Perhaps, Shonda Rimes will soon confront the plight of parking tickets on one of her many network series.
After it was reported that Columbus Short's estranged wife was alleging that the Scandal star held a knife to her neck while threatening to kill her during one physical assault, it is a little surprising that his ABC co-star, Kerry Washington, is choosing to confront a slightly more benign form of marital assault--financial abuse.
During a recent interview, the fashionista--who designed a handbag for Allstate Foundation's Purple Purse campaign--explained that she wanted to bring attention to the hundreds of woman that had their credit pulverized in lieu of their faces (via CBS News):
"I was really struck by how prevalent it is, that most times finances are a weapon of choice for abusers and by the real fact that when you give women the tools to stand on their own financially they're able to not only walk away from abusive relationships but stay away.
"When you're having your credit destroyed, or your employment in danger, your debt run up--all these things contribute to you having to stay.
"So just raising the awareness around it, giving people the language to be able to talk about it and do something about it, I think is really important."
Kerry's on-screen lover and costar, Scot Foley, admitted on Ellen that he--shockingly--has had quite a few run-ins with the law.
The 42-year-old actor explained on the popular day-time talk show, that though he had been arrested three different time, it was all in the same day for a harmless mountain of parking violations (via Fox News):
"I was arrested in one precinct, they then took me to another precinct where they arrested me, and the third precinct didn't want to come get me so that second precinct arrested me for the third precinct."
Well...at least, no one got heart or god forbid...Kerry may have had to design an entirely new bizarrely colored purse.
