New CBS Violent ‘Stalker’ with ‘American Horror Story’ Dylan McDermott and Maggie Q Preview

CBS premieres its all new drama, Stalker, tonight, starring American Horror Story’s Dylan McDermott and Maggie Q. However, this new series is not for the faint of heart. The pilot hasn’t even aired and yet the show’s creator, Kevin Williamson, has already had to defend it for being “too violent.”

The plot preview for the pilot episode, reads:

“Beth and Jack target a stalker who's attracted to fire in the series premiere of this drama centering on the Threat Assessment Unit of the LAPD as they investigate stalking incidents. Dylan McDermott and Maggie Q star.”

Much like his Fox drama, The Following, Kevin Williamson’s new show has criticed for being very viloent. Williamson's recently spoke to TV Guide about his love for the genra:

I'm so proud of The Following ... and I wouldn't change it for the world. I like the genre and I do respect it and appreciate it. ... I enjoy scaring people.”

However, Williamson went on to add that it shouldn’t be compared too closely to The Following:

“It's apples and oranges. That's a very violent show. This is a scary show. It's psychological. ... It is about what lurks in the dark, what's peeking through the window, what's in your closet, what's under your bed. That's the scare here, and a lot of people are more terrified by that than just watching people run around with knives and stab people. So in that way, you might find it scarier, but it won't be as violent. It'll be creepier and eerie and sort of haunting I think, more so than the violent, visceral [tone] of The Following. ... But they're both equally scary in their own right."

If you have the stomach for it, be sure to check the series premiere of Stalker tonight at 10:00 p.m. on CBS.
