Will Marshawn Lynch Retire Soon? Former Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander Says Beast Mode May Only Have A Few Years Left

Former Seattle Seahawks RB Shaun Alexander thinks there's a very real expiration date on fellow Seattle back Marshawn Lynch's career. He says the way Beast Mode runs, he'll probably have to retire in a few years. But Alexander, who had a similar, bruising style, says that Lynch shouldn't change what has made him so successful.

Shaun Alexander says that the aggressive style Beast Mode has become known for can wear on the body fast. But at the same time, he says he has no regrets about playing that way, and Lynch should get it while the gettin's good (via Yahoo):

"He's 28 [years old] so we have to [understand the] reality that running backs really don't last much past their 30s. My last year was 31, so I think it's the same thing... I think you try to go with the girl you got. Be the best you can be and when it's time to get done playing, you ride into the sunset being who you and be proud of that."

Seattle certainly seems content to keep giving the ball to their workhorse. The Seahawks don't even seem to feel comfortable working in backups (via Seattle Times):

"It's hard enough playing two guys, let alone trying to play three. And the thing you wouldn't want to do is take reps from Marshawn. He's our main guy. So I won't take reps from him. But then Turbo (Turbin) has done a good job. So we'll have to figure it out somehow how we are going to do it.''

Conventional wisdom says you don't mess with a winning formula. So expect to see Lynch carrying his team down the field this season as they try to win a second Super Bowl in a row.
