'The Mercurotti' Duet with Freddie Mercury and Luciano Pavarotti Surfaces on YouTube via Marc Martel

Behold “The Mercurotti,” a long-wanted duet with Freddie Mercury and Luciano Pavarotti. Marc Martel performs The Mercurotti in one take on his YouTube channel.

Martel has been picked by Queen’s Brian May and roger Taylor to be the lead vocalist for
The Queen Extravaganza, a roadshow celebrating Queen’s discography. The gig came after he submitting a video of himself singing "Somebody To Love,” which went viral. The video found Martel at a live audition for Queen drummer Roger Taylor at 606, Dave Grohl’s studio.

"It's been insane," said Martel. "I entered the competition on a whim, never expecting things to take off the way they did. The Extravaganza has taken me places I've never been and I'm forever grateful to Roger and Brian for giving me that opportunity."

Today marks the release of Martel’s solo debut, fittingly titled Impersonator, produced by John Fields.

"It's a bit tongue-in-cheek,” said Martel on naming the album. “Being compared to Freddie Mercury is something I've come to terms with. I don't know that I'll ever successfully avoid the comparisons, as much as I might want to. Why bother, though?”

Martel feels his album is truly a sense of who he is and no longer an impersonator.
