Last week, CBS’ new hacker drama, Scorpion, premiered with impressive ratings. The new series, starring Elyes Gabel (Game of Thrones) and Katharine McPhee (Smash), had a little help from an hour-long lead in, The Big Bang Theory. Now that the first episode is over, the real test begins. Can the show keep the numbers up?
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s all new episode of Scorpion, titled
“The governor calls on Team Scorpion when his daughter is mysteriously 'bio-hacked' with a deadly virus and only has 24 hours to live. Meanwhile, the case takes on a deeper significance for Walter after he receives a letter regarding his sister.”
Last week’s debut episode of Scorpion won the night, clocking in an impressive 14 million viewers. The huge numbers are in no doubt thanks to it’s hour-long lead in The Big Bang Theory. The show has drawn some comparisons to The Big Bang Theory as executive producer Nick Santora told reporters at the Television Critics Association fall previews(via TV Guide):
“The truth is while breaking the show and the characters and coming up with ideas that kind of all came together, it was brought up at some point by someone at CBS who said, 'Oh, wow, this is like Big Bang Theory in the field,’ And so I went, 'Yeah, it is.' [I was] smart enough to fake it and lie."
Check out the all new series tonight at 9:00 p.m. on CBS. How did you like the premiere episode of Scorpion?
