Tony Stewart Retired After Killing Kevin Ward? Dead Driver Ward High on Marijuana as NASCAR Sprint Car Driver Cleared of Charges in Ward's Death, But Innocent Tony May Not Return

Sprint Car Driver Tony Stewart has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the death of fellow racer Kevin Ward, Jr. While Stewart won't face charges after killing the young driver, he has said that he doesn't think he'll return any time soon. Is he retired or just in mourning? Whatever the case may be, Stewart is innocent in the eyes of the law, because Ward was high on marijuana, according to the toxicology report. With Ward dead, the whole NASCAR community is obviously still saddened by the tragic loss.

According to NBC News, Tony Stewart was found not at fault in the death of driver Kevin Ward. The investigation revealed that Ward was high on pot at the time of the incident (via NBC News):

"The levels that were determined were enough to impair judgment. There was no toxicology work performed on Tony Stewart. However, a certified drug recognition expert had interviewed him on the night of the collision and determined that he found no basis to observe any alcohol consumption or impairment by drugs."

Due to the extreme nature of the situation, Stewart has told the press that he won't be getting back in a racecar any time soon, if ever (via USA Today):

"I would say it's going to be a long time before you ever see me in a sprint car again, if ever. I don't have any desire at this moment to get back in a car. If I had the option to go right now to a race, I wouldn't. I don't even know when I'll go to a sprint car race again to watch."

Stewart is obviously traumatized by the horrific events that took place last month, but hopefully he will be able to get back onto the track eventually.
