ABC ‘Resurrection’ Season 2 Spoilers: Omar Epps Premiere Interview Reveals Origin Story? [VIDEO]

When ABC's new fall Sunday night drama season finale came to an end last year, fans of the surreal fantasy, Resurrection--based on the book, The Return, by Jason Mott--were left wondering if the TV show's lead character, Customs Agent, J. Martin Bellamy, was in fact one on the Returned himself. Spoilers: in a recent interview with the cohosts of Good Morning America, Omar revealed that the real question going into Season 2 wasn't whether or not his character was among one of the hundreds of people now returned from the dead. Epps said what you really needed to be thinking about was how much does good ole Marty really know. In related news--the former House actor also shot down the rumors that he was going to be staring in the sequel to Love & Basketball, with Sanaa Lathan.

After a pretty suspenseful season finale of Resurrection, fans are understandably excited to learn if the man in charge of keeping little Jacob safe all along, played by Omar Epps, is really one of the people who has come back from his own death.

In a season recap by Entertainment Weekly all pieces to the puzzle of just why Bellamy become so deeply involved from the beginning were finally put together:

"Jacob befriends a young girl named Jenny Thompson on the playground...Jenny, along with her parents, is a Returned.

"The Thompsons tell Mr. and Mrs. Langston how they tragically perished in a flood many years ago.

"They had another child, though--a son named Robert who had a crescent-shaped birthmark on the back of his neck.

"Cut to the final scene of the season, where we get a shot of the back of Bellamy's neck."

During a recent interview with Good Morning America, Omar Epps reminded the hosts that what Martin was wasn't the real question at play here (ABC News):

"Last season we had a great run. But this season it gets a lot darker...it gets a bit more dangerous.

"The way to look at [it] is: If Bellamy is and knew, what does that mean?

"And if he is and didn't know, what does that mean?"

As for whether or not, he believes in a life after death, himself--Omar was just as cagey when giving that answer to Cheryl Burke of Dancing with the Stars fame (via ABC News):

"I believe that energies last forever...so, whatever that means to you.

"Everybody has a different thing...you know?"

Tune in Sunday nights at 9 p.m. to catch Omar Epps in Resurrection on ABC.
