Tonight, the hit Showtime Masters of Sex is all new with the final episode of Season 2. Don’t worry though. Michael Sheen & Lizzy Caplan will be back next year, as real-life sex researcher Bill Masters and his partner Virginia Johnson. The series has already been renewed for a third season.
The official plot synopsis for tonight’s Season 2 finale of Masters of Sex, titled “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised,” reads:
“Season 2 ends with Masters and Johnson passing the results of their studies on to the world.”
Recently, Master of Sex writer Thomas Maier spoke to The NYTimes about Michael Sheen’s portrayal of Bill Masters:
"He has been extraordinary in the way in which he has bought everything from Hamlet and Shakespeare to his own background and his own emotions to his interpretation of Bill Masters….In a way, it's been fun for me to see how they have taken this material and tried to plumb the emotional truths, the real depths of their relationship. I think they have brought an even greater depth to my story."
You will be able to see more Sheen as Masters next season. The show has officially been renewed for a third season, with Showtime President David Nevins announcing:
"Both Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex are bold, provocative, premium television with production values at the top of the food chain. These acclaimed shows are filled with complex and interesting characters and settings that will no doubt give audiences compelling television to invest in for seasons to come."
Check out the Season 2 finale of Masters of Sex, tonight at 10:00 p.m. on Showtime.
