Jake "The Snake" Roberts is on a roller coaster right now. After his hospitalization last month due to a bout of double pneumonia, Roberts discovered that he had cancer in his chest. But Thursday Jake announced on Twitter that it was benign. For someone who has been near death so many times, Roberts must be so thankful to hear that news. But unfortunately, Jake still must retire due to compounding health issues.
Roberts isn't completely out of the woods, but he is glad to announce that he doesn't have cancer (via Twitter):
"Benign great to hear that . Thanx for the prayers.. Still have brain issues that must b investigated but I still call it a win."
Sadly, though, getting sick made him so weak that he is effectively retired. While Jake has been out of the spotlight, he has continued to earn money on the independent circuit in the ring. But after losing 81 pounds to Double Pneumonia it seems Jake is going to have to hang up his boots once and for all (via Wrestle Zone):
"Don't think I can ever get back n ring. I have came a long ways n last two years and know how hard it is to get ready and how easy to lose" [sic]
Hopefully Jake will stick with his positive direction and the work that he's been doing with DDP and Scott Hall. His rebirth has been an inspiration to a lot of people, and we all wish him a full recovery.
