Lakers center Jordan Hill, who was facing allegations of domestic violence in 2012, has pled no contest. His ex-girlfriend, Darlene Luna, has reportedly dropped the charges, however. Does this mean that Hill and Luna reached some sort of out of court settlement? While no one is commenting on any such arrangement, there is some stirring in the internet rumor mill.
The Lakers are in a slump lately, and given the current climate in professional sports these days, they must be concerned that one of their most valuable assets is having legal troubles. They put a lot of eggs in his basket (via Sports Rant):
"The Los Angeles Lakers gave Jordan Hill a lot of money this offseason, restricting their ability to make any big signings. He will likely get the start at center and will be expected to contribute big minutes."
Sadly, the apparent solution does not involve justice for allegedly beating up his ex, but as TMZ speculates, Luna may have been paid off instead (via TMZ):
"Now, we've learned Luna has officially DROPPED her lawsuit -- with prejudice -- which means she can never refile against Hill for the incident ever again ... usually a telltale sign of a settlement. We reached out to Allred and asked about a possible settlement -- to which she replied, 'The matter has been amicably resolved.'"
