Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is under investigation for child abuse during a critical time in the National Football League. A number of players have recently been in the spotlight for criminal and/or immoral behavior. But you may not know that Peterson was also investigated in 2011 for sexual assault. While he was cleared by authorities, the revelation only serves to highlight the problems that the NFL is facing right now.
TMZ, the gossip site which always seems to have the scoop, reported a few days ago that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was accused of sexual assault in 2011.
Peterson was never charged with a crime, but that negative PR can't help Peterson's situation (via TMZ):
"Wold also says Peterson submitted to a polygraph test and the results showed he was truthful and the authorities closed the case and no charges were ever filed."
Not only is Peterson facing possible charges for child abuse, legendary sports announcer Bob Costas let loose on the deactivated Vikings running back (via MSNBC):
"And anyone who can't see the difference between legitimately disciplining a kid and beating a kid to the point where the authorities have to step in... And the kid is 4 years old, no cultural or regional differences explain that away. It's a crime, and a horrible crime."
