Lindsay Lohan Says ‘Oprah’ Show Made Her Leave New York, Talks West End Debut Before David Mamet ‘Speed-the-Plow’ Flop?

Well Lindsay Lohan has made her West End theatre debut, and the results were so-so. The troubled starlet is seeking redemption in David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow. During previews, Lohan reportedly dropped a few lines, and missed a few cues. Lohan recently opened up about how her show with Oprah Winfrey caused her to leave New York and move to London.

Lohan recently spoke with Time Out London about why she decided to move to London in the first place:

“I’m at a point when I want a diligent routine and I really want to get back into work. And I wanted to do something different: people have certain perceptions of me and I wanted to change them by doing something like a Mamet play. I’m hoping it’ll take away attention from me as a celebrity name and draw attention to the fact that I’m an actress.“

It looks like Lohan isn’t planning on returning to New York anytime soon, as she added:

“I said to my agent: “Look, I really need to move to London, I have to get out of New York.” After the Oprah show, I felt I’d lost my privacy. I have a flat, yeah. I sold my place in New York. I love the energy of New York but I feel London’s more adult. I mean, things do close here.”

However, Lohan’s sour experiences with America paparozzi, and the whole Hollywood lifestyle, helped her to identify with her character in Speed-The-Plow:

“My character gets a taste of the Hollywood life, and I think this happens in LA a lot: people get hooked on the adrenaline that comes with making movies and get out of their depth.”
